Christopher E.Roser WEST SHOKAN-Christopher E. Roser, 57, of West Shokan died peacefully Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh. A lifetime area resident, he was born Feb. 4, 1960 in Queens, son of Edward Roser, and the late Ellen Henriksen Roser. He was a graduate of Onteora Central Schools Class of ‘78. Chris went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1983, and had been awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, and the Cuban Refugee Exercise Award. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 of Albany. As a trained X-Ray Technician, he focused on medical imaging throughout his career. Chris’ mind was always thinking of new ventures, and has been described as an ambitious entrepreneur. Surviving in addition to his father, are his wife Burnelle Howard Roser, daughter Adrianna Roser, sister Ann Roser, niece Jessica and nephew Giovanni. Friends and family will be received on Friday Nov. 17th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia. Private burial will take place in the family plot at the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, Rt. 28, Allaben. Chris became the brother I never had while serving with him in Groton, Connecticut in 1980. We were each other´s Best Man, had numerous adventures in South Florida, and shared family gatherings. On his passing it was the recognized military Veterans Day observance as the 11th was a Saturday. Chris was an outstanding Sailor, healthcare professional and father. Today has marked 7-years passing without his kindhearted personality and humor. God bless his beautiful family.

A tribute to my friend. The brother that I never had. We grew up in a time when Coke was Coke and the deposit bottles tossed by others kept us in the product. Gas was cheep & cars of quality. We enjoyed the town pool, recreation, the activities with other families. Beer weekends @ Davis park and all of the parties the community would allow. (And the stories he told). Time with the Roser family was good as well as a clo se relationship with my family.
Football & basketball games, boy scouts, riding in Chris' red van. The commute to Woodstock, 4 x 4 to the tops of mountains on trails or off. Chris was part of the 3500 mountain club. (And the stories he told).
I will miss the constant updates on all living & past people, narrated by Chris.
We will miss him.
He made fake news real. Anyone was better by having Chris in their world. May he find the next world that he needs & his family find the strength to heal.
Chris had a good life, may he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.
Chris and I went to grade school and graduated high school together.
This is so sad to hear at such a young age and so quick. I pray he didn't suffer during his illness.
