James Decker Obituary

KERHONKSON- James Ira Decker, 75, of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away on Feb. 19, 2021. James was born on Aug. 21, 1945 in Ellenville, N.Y.; the son of the late Harry P. and Ruth C. (Coughlin) Decker. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Rondout Valley High School. He worked as a Manager for WESCO Electric Supply in Poughkeepsie for many years, and previously was a Manager at both Arthur Treacher’s and Channel Master in Ellenville. Jim was an avid snowmobiler in his younger years, and he was a huge NASCAR fan always. He most enjoyed traveling to Daytona Motor Speedway and Richmond Raceway regularly with family and friends, making for some of his most memorable moments. Jim is survived by his brother, Joseph H. Decker, Sr., and his wife Collette of Kingston; his nephews, Joseph H. Decker, Jr., of Chalfont, Pa., and Michael J. Decker and his wife Kimberly of Kingston; his niece, Kristen Gray and her husband Scott of Kerhonkson; as well as several cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Julie Bartle and his brother, John Decker. Visiting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m. at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday the 25th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name and mailed to the Kerhonkson Fire Company, P.O. Box 62, Kerhonkson, N.Y., 12446.
