Beloved Wife and Mother, Jessie Ethel Temple, departed this life for her eternal reward, on April 7, 2022. She was ninety-nine years young. Jessie's great faithsustained her through all the challenges of life, and she was a remarkable example of a Godly woman. She was born on February 17, 1923 to Robert L.and Susan Mitchell Tompkins in Granite Springs, NY. She was the eldest of seven children. She married Marshall G. Temple (who predeceased her in 2000), onSeptember 26, 1948 at Hedding Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Together, they raised a family of five boys, and Jessie's devotion to her children was the main focus of her entire life. In addition, she fostered thirty-four infants, and two, orphaned brothers, over many years, all while tending to the needs of her family as homemaker. As the Matriarch of her family, Jessie is survived by her sons and their wives, Ron and Sally Temple of Hyde Park; George and Debbie Temple of Brandon, Florida; Alan and Bee Temple of Moyock, North Carolina; and Mike and Terry Temple of Hyde Park, NY. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Lillian, Roberta and Robert Jr.; eleven grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Edward, Sr. in 2005; her parents; her sisters, Susan, Anne and Marjorie; and a grandson, Edward Jr. in 1989.Jessie was a long-time resident of Hyde Park, NY. She was previously a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Poughkeepsie and most recently a member of the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park. She moved to Kingston, NY in 2014. In the last year's of her life, Jessie was a Goodwill ambassador at Golden Hill Nursing Home, frequently taking walks along the corridors and when welcomed in, would share God's love with fellow residents. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Golden Hill who tended to Jessie's needs, for their benevolent affection while she was in their care. Jessie imparted love and kindness wherever andwhenever she could. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend and Nanny/Grandma. Her positive attitude endeared her to everyone. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday June 24th 2022, 10:30 AM at United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, 1 Church Street, Hyde Park NY. Rev. Kregg Gabor and Pastor Jay Cookingham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Family plot at Union Cemetery, Hyde Park.
