Joan Scully Obituary

Joan P. Scully RHINEBECK- Joan P. Scully, 78, formerly of Belvedere Street, Kingston, a recent resident of Archcare at Ferncliff, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born Oct. 16, 1933, in Bronx, a daughter of the late John and Joan (O'Sullivan) Cronin. Joan earned her associate degree in Accounting from Ulster County Community College. She had been employed by Grand Union and Hannaford Supermarkets . She was an avid reader of History and The Civil War. In her younger years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles especially the Sunday New York Times. She is survived by her children, Maureen Bach and her husband John of Saugerties, Edward Scully of Kingston; a sister, Eileen Starkey and her husband John of Northbrook, Ill.; nieces and nephews. Her husband, William Scully; and a sister, Ellen Cronin, died previously. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. John T Kearney will officiate. Burial at Saint Mary's cemetery. Flowers are welcome expressions of sympathy may also be made in the form of contributions to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
