Joyce Eng Obituary

Joyce Eng was granted her angel wings on January 25th, 2022. Born May 14th, 1949, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, New York to Sun Bing Eng (father) and Gam Yook Ong (mother). Joyce, affectionately called Joy by her mother, grew up in Kingston. She graduated from Kingston High School in June of 1967 and went on to attend college at the State University of New York at New Paltz, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education. You may recall her warm smile and friendly greetings in a number of local businesses in Kingston. Perhaps you worked alongside her at Iron Mountain Services, shopped at Schecter’s Market on North Front Street, dined at the Kingston Tea Garden, or browsed at Macy’s. Joyce enjoyed the visual arts, dabbling in many mediums including oil paints, water colors, pastels, and especially pencil sketches, often capturing the most spectacular features of the human form. She brought a special flair to the dining table, collecting countless recipes, and bringing them to life. She shared the kitchen with friends and family often creating many dishes, both savory and sweet, to the absolute delight of her guests. She had great taste in entertainment and music. Joyce had a record collection that would be the envy of many collectors today. She never passed up any opportunities to take in the best movies and television shows, recording one while watching another. Joyce’s thirst for knowledge knew no boundaries. She enjoyed reading the most, whether it was current events, fact, fiction, history or romance, she never stopped learning. One was fortunate to have recruited her on their Trivial Pursuit team. She retired from Macy’s in 2016, moving on to enjoy spending time with those she loved. Joyce was a daughter, sister, aunt, best friend and teammate. She was a great teacher of art and creativity, lover of animals great and small, chauffeur to many, nurturing caregiver, and a great listener. She was outwardly timid but knew when to roar. If you were the recipient of such an outburst, trust us, you deserved it.She leaves behind a brother Ernest (Choua) Eng of Madison, WI, two nephews, Henry (Lauren) Eng of Lynbrook, NY, Hogan Eng of Woodbury CT a niece, Ara (Rick) Newman of Bloomingdale, NY and Distinguished Friend, Donna Utley of Kingston, NY. There will be no services. A private burial will take place in summer at Evergreen Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY where she will join her parents and her brother William Eng.

Joyce and her brother Bill were kind enough to rent me a space to start a new business. They lowered the rent to help get me started those for six months. More gentler souls I have not encountered. I´m glad they are together now. Joyce and her brother Bill were kind enough to rent me a space to start a new business. They lowered the rent to Years ago, to start my business, I rented space from Joyce and her brother Bill. Without my asking, they reduced my rent for the first six months to help me get started. More gentler souls I have not encountered. Missing them both, I´m glad they are together. Sincere condolences to those left behind.
