Kathleen Krumenacker Obituary

Rhinebeck - Kathleen Ann Krumenacker, “Kath”, 85, of Rhinebeck, passed from this world on July 20, 2022, almost 1 week after suffering a severe stroke.Kath was born Kathleen Ann Driscoll to David Anthony and Helen Veronica Driscoll in Jamaica, Queens NY on May 19, 1937. She grew up in New Hyde Park, NY where she met and married her husband, the love of her life, Richard J. Krumenacker. Kath worked in publishing at Doubleday in NYC before moving upstate with her husband in the 1958. She loved the peace and quiet of country living and she and Rich were very happy living in Fishkill, and then in Rhinebeck. Kath had many interests and was always a lover of learning and knowledge. She and Rich loved outdoor adventures and passed that love on to their children. She was very active in her community through Mother's Club, LKTA, Garden Club, Pony Club, Bee Club, and Yacht Club. She was continually active in the lives of her children, supporting and encouraging all their interests and endeavors and was, by their account, the most wonderful mother. She was employed as a farm secretary and a gardening professional later in her life. Her treasure trove of knowledge about gardening was unlimited and many went to her for help and advice in designing their gardens. Kath and Rich loved sailing on the Hudson and Long Island Sound, canoeing, camping, riding their bikes, xc skiing, hiking and spent much of their time traveling together enjoying the natural beauty of the east coast. Nothing made her happier than seeing her family happy and sharing her time with them. Being a devoted wife and mother brought her incomparable contentment. She was a caring and loving sister and friend as well, and was dearly loved by so many. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard J. Krumenacker and her dear brother, David Anthony Driscoll, Jr. She is survived by 3 sisters: Lynne Scott, Donna Wallace, & Christine Driscoll and 1 brother, Daniel Driscoll & his wife Jane (their children James and Kate) And by her 4 children, 5 grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter: Her son Richard J. & his wife, Judy Krumenacker (and their son Leland) Her son Raymond Krumenacker (and his son Keel) Her daughter Michele K. & her husband Paul G. Decker (their son Evan & his wife Jackie, and their daughter Violet) (their son Calvin & his wife, Beth) Her daughter Sharon Ojeda (and her son Xavier) Kath was a unique and beautiful spirit and she will never be forgotten. We will miss her more than words can ever say. Memorial hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY, on Monday July 25 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in honor of Kath can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601.
