Kathleen Moran Obituary
Kathleen Agnes Moran WEST HURLEY- Kathleen Agnes Moran entered into eternal rest on June 17, 2018 with her devoted, eldest son, Edward Patrick Moran III, at her side in Mount Vernon, Wash, at age 82. Kathleen A. Moran married a sailor, Edward Patrick Moran II, on Nov. 25, 1962, wearing an elegant emerald green dress, in a small service witnessed by her daughter Mary Regina. While married, Kathleen shared her stories of being a legal secretary in Manhattan and reminisced about her Irish heritage with fierce loyalty and devotion to Brooklyn, N.Y. They soon welcomed a son, Edward Patrick Moran, III, after they moved to NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va. During this time, Kathleen continued to work as a legal secretary, and her family grew when her second son, John K. Moran was born. With three children in tow, Kathleen embarked on what would be one of many sojourns across the U.S. as a Navy wife; the family recalls with fondness the memories created during this cross-country journey filled with countless adventures and infamous “short cuts”, by her husband, where she was a willing, yet reluctant, co-pilot. After living in Imperial Beach, Calif., for nearly two years, in true military-family style, they loaded up the station wagon and embarked yet again on another pilgrimage to the East Coast, where they eventually settled in Virginia Beach once more. Soon, her youngest daughter, Erin K. Moran was born, and the family pulled up stakes yet again and moved to New York, where Kathleen began working for IBM and retired after more than a decade of service. Kathleen enjoyed living in Woodstock, N.Y., where she doted on her grandchildren and relished family time where music, singing, and dancing was sure to ensue. Kathleen could always be found posing for a picture and seeking the limelight in family movies. Desiring true retirement, Kathleen and her husband returned once again to Virginia Beach where they chartered a life of pools, warmth, relaxation, and hosting family vacation-visitations. Not soon after, they moved to Clermont, Fla., where she realized a dream of living in a home with a heated pool and a palm-tree adorned lanai. However, full retirement did not suit Kathleen; she ventured to Disney’s Animal Kingdom during their flagship year where she was a Cast Member at Island Mercantile and helped bring magical moments to all who visited. As her husband would note, this “retirement gig” did nothing to supplement their income, as she spent all of her earnings on Disney memorabilia, with her Cast Member discount, as Kathleen always loved a good sale. Later in life, the joy of being a grandparent once again touched Kathleen’s life as her son, John Moran and his wife Sarah, welcomed their children Jack and Alia; this occurred nearly-simultaneously as she entered a new role as a great-grandmother to Mae and Aimon Shatraw. Awaiting at Heaven’s Gates for Kathleen were her loved ones who had gone before: her soul mate and husband, Edward Patrick Moran II; her parents, Kathleen and John Collins; and many beloved family and pets. Kathleen’s animated spirit and joy for living is embodied by her children: Gina Mosimann and her husband Ron, Ed Moran, John Moran and his wife Sarah, and Erin; her grandchildren, Emily Shatraw and her husband Travis, Ronnie, Jack, and Alia; and her great-grandchildren Mae and Aimon. Kathleen will always be remembered in the hearts of her loved ones every day, and particularly
