Mary Sinnott Obituary

GLASCO.......Mary T. Sinnott, 90, of Delaware St., died Saturday, January 21, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Glasco on May 21, 1932 to the late Antonio and Giulia Merenda Serra. She grew up working in the family business Serra's Restaurant. In her formative years, she worked at Vinny Lou Dress Shop, Glasco. She also worked in the Saugerties School District as a lunch room monitor. Her family was most important to her and gatherings for any occasion brought the most joy. She was predeceased by her husband Frank M., Sr. in 2013; siblings, Anthony, Albert and John Serra and daughter-in- law Antoinette Sinnott. Survivors include her three sons, Frank Jr. of Leeds, Robert (Kathleen) Sinnott of Saugerties, Paul (Arlene) Sinnott of Saugerties and daughter, MaryAnn DiBenedetto of Glasco; six grandchildren, Amy Sinnott, Elizabeth Sinnott, Kaitlyn (Joseph) DellaChiesa, David DiBenedetto, Nicole (Dennis) Raymond and Danielle (Nick) Feriola; twelve great grandchildren many nieces nephews and cousins. Mary was known as a strong, loyal, generous, loving, and caring Mother, Grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Her work ethic was unmatched. She was nicknamed 'hurricane' by Mickey Matsie who used to watch her run from her house to her mothers bar and restaurant, across the street to Angie Mayones, back to the bar and then home again to care for her children. She did this her entire life. Her saying was, 'If you wanna eat, you gotta work first' We think that was from her mom, Giulia. Mary was the youngest of four and was raised by her mom, Giulia. She never met her father Antonio, who died before she was born. As she went through life, the stories of her Father and what he did for the community and others always amazed and comforted her. She was a faithful member of the Saugerties Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was very active in her ministry as she followed Jesus example of sharing the Bibles message. She looks forward to seeing her Father, Mother, Husband and all the family members that have predeceased her in the Resurrection hope that the Bible promises in the Paradise to come. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We treasure the wisdom and valuable life lessons she has taught us. Memorial service is to be held Saturday, January 28 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 293 Mike Krout Road in Saugerties at 2:00 pm. Her Funeral Service will be held 10 am Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., Saugerties. Burial will follow in the St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Expressions of condolence and photos are encouraged to be shared with the family as a Tribute Book will be organized at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com

WE have very fond memories of Mary, we Loved her very much, she always welcomed us to her home. My Wife Lisa and I visited her a couple months before she passed, and we enjoyed sitting with her and hearing all the stories about her growing up, and her family In Saugerties, as well as her faithful service in Saugerties congregation Of Jehovah's Witnesses. She left before we had a chance to get closer to her and to know more about her. Our deepest Sympathies to all in the Sinnott Family, Mary will Be greatly missed !!!
