Shawn Wonderly Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE-Shawn Eric Wonderly, 37, resident of Poughkeepsie, died on Wednesday, Aug.1, 2012, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident along with his wife, Patricia DeSantola Wonderly.
Shawn was born in Kingston, on Aug. 10, 1974, to Lawrence E. and Virginia Wonderly.
He attended the Rondout Valley Elementary and Junior High Schools, graduating from John Jay High School in Hopewell Jct., in 1992.
He attended Dutchess Community College.
On May 13, 2000, he married Patricia Lynn DeSantola, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Hyde Park.
Shawn was an avid Yankees, Giants, WWE, and Nascar fan. He enjoyed watching sports and being with his family. He coached Pop Warner football in East Fishkill with his father from 1995-1998 and coached his son's tee ball team. Shawn worked as a utility locater in the Mid Hudson Valley for Premier and Protek for many years. He and his family had just returned from Sarasota, FL. He was a devoted, dependable employee and forged many relationships with utility workers.
He was a loveable father, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Shawn is survived by his daughter, Abigail Rose; son, Matthew Shawn; Virginia Bruck Wonderly (mother); Amy Wonderly (sister); and Kaylyn Winne (niece), of High Falls; Lawrence E. Wonderly (father) and his wife Norma, of Fishkill; his brothers, Ryan, of Wappingers Falls and Kyle of Beacon and his fiancée Kelly Light; also surviving are his grandparents, Clyde and Gloria Wonderly, of Kingston; his uncle Drew and his wife Su, of Hurley; Tom Bruck (uncle); Kathleen Allen (aunt); Patricia Bruck (aunt); Eleanor O'Donnell (aunt); as well as many cousins. Shawn was predeceased by his grandmother, Joyce Kirchner Wonderly Campbell (2004); uncles, Todd (1980) and Scott Wonderly (2001).
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Regina Ceoli Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
