Stephen DeLisio Obituary

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA- Stephen Scott DeLisio, age 83, of Anchorage, passed away Aug. 7, 2021, in his home from a rare form of lymphoma. Steve was born in San Diego and grew up in Woodstock, N.Y. He attended Blair Academy, Emory University, Albany Law School, and graduated with a Master of Laws from Georgetown University before moving to Fairbanks, Alaska to begin his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in 1963. He married the love of his life, Margaret, in 1964. They celebrated their 57th anniversary in June 2021. Steve joined the law firm McNealy and Merdes in 1965 and soon after became a partner in Merdes, Schaible, Staley and DeLisio where he founded its Anchorage branch in 1971. He retired from DeLisio, Moran, Geraghty and Zobel in 1993 to devote his time as Metro Director of Christian Business Men’s Committee (CBMC) and as a lay pastor with Anchorage Bible Fellowship (ABF). He was actively involved in ABF’s prison ministry at the Anchorage jail. He loved traveling with family, golf, and was an avid reader. He did crosswords with a pen, could unravel any knot, and had the most infectious baritone belly laugh. Steve is survived by his wife Margaret, son Tony and wife Ginger, son Scott and wife Kathie, daughter Heather and husband David, siblings Paul, Sharon and David, and grandchildren Destiny, Stephen Scott III, Cooper, Natalie, Scott, and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his parents Tony and Irving “Wiggie” DeLisio, siblings Robert and Elizabeth, and granddaughter Kassandra. The family is planning a celebration of life in late September/early October at ABF. If you would like to participate, please email the family at [email protected].
