Barbara C. Helman

1948 - 2021

Barbara C. Helman, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2021 after a long illness, with her daughters at her side. She was born on February 29, 1948 to Michael and Barbara Zappone at Benedict Memorial Hospital in Ballston Spa. A lifelong resident of Ballston Spa, Barbara worked at several establishments throughout the years including Angelica Healthcare, Ballston Spa Knitting Mill and Espey in Saratoga Springs. Barbara had a strong faith and was a parishioner of St Mary's Catholic Church in Ballston Spa. She was a member of the Ballston Spa Home and Garden Club. Barbara was a lover of Ballston Spa History, The Golden Girls, Billie Holiday, Dean Martin, gnocchi, french fries, classic movies, true crime TV, a good crusty bread with butter and "Chicken Soup For What Ails Ya." Barbara was a Mom to all that knew her! She truly had a love for life and fought until the very end. She will be sadly missed by all her beloved family and friends. Family was truly her life and she is survived by her loving daughters Cindy Winslow and Billie-Jo Helman-Schweikert (Henry); grandchildren Falecia, Timothy, and Rayna; great grandsons Brycen and Oliver; and several loving nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister Rose Marie Reksc. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, September 1 from 10am to 11am at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
