Barbara Ann Pettit

1933 - 2023

Barbara Lawrence Pettit, born September 4, 1933, of Schenectady, New

York, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at home on

Sunday, April 16, 2023. She was born to parents Maurice and Grace

Lawrence. "Bobbie" as she was fondly known as, graduated from Mont

Pleasant High School in 1951. She met her husband Wilford "Link"

Pettit in 1950. Together in marriage for 69 years, they raised two

children together: Link Pettit and Lori Pettit Carpenter.  Barbara lived a

full life as an exceptional wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver. She

loved to bake (had the best pie crust around), to cook, to garden,

birdwatching, and was highly skilled at sewing and crafting. She truly

could make anything from scratch! The simplest pleasures in life

brought great joy to Barbara. She enjoyed spending time with her

grandchildren, making crafts and taking them for camping trips over the

years. She lived for her daughter and granddaughter shopping/lunch

dates. Bobbie was always up for a good bargain! She cherished her great

grandchildren and enjoyed their visits and video calls.  Barbara loved

watching her husband and son at the dirt races. She was their biggest

fan. Using her talent, she even lettered her husbands first race car.After

raising her children, she began a successful career as an apartment

community manager. She is survived by her son Link Pettit and wife

Darlene Pettit, their three daughters; April Pettit, esq. and her husband

Joel Bigelo of Framingham, MA; Rebecca and her husband

Michael Melkonian of Plymouth, MA and Alyssa Pettit of Duanesburg,

NY. She is also survived by her daughter Lori Carpenter and husband

Jeff Carpenter, Loris three daughters; Dr. Amanda Carpenter-Mendini

and David Mendini and their three children of Victor, NY; Megan and

Jonathan Bolender and their three children of Huntingtown,

MD; Kelsey and Marcus Resciniti of Schenectady, NY. Her

parents, husband Wilford "Link" Pettit of Schenectady, and sister Laura

Danforth, preceded her in death. The family has entrusted Griswold

Funeral Home of Schenectady, NY with arrangements for a joint

memorial service alongside her husband with military honors at the

Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery to be held on
