BERYL MacGREGOR

Beryl MacGregor, 89, of Rotterdam, died peacefully February 27, 2011, at Baptist Nursing Home where she had resided for the last five years. Beryl was born in Gardner, MA, to Howard and Daisy MacKenzie, who both predeceased her. She grew up in Watervliet and graduated from Watervliet High School. She went to work at Maqua Co. in Schenectady where she met William (Mac) MacGregor. They were married on March 15, 1947 and spent 48 wonderful years together before Mac's death on June 12, 1995. She retired from Office Assistance in Scotia when her granddaughter, Megan was born in 1985. Beryl is survived by a son, Scott (Lori) of Sacandaga, NY; and daughters, Robin (Mike) Kane of Ballston Lake, Marie Ahearn of Wilmington NC, and Shirley O'Brien of Niskayuna. She was grandmother to MacKenna MacGregor, Megan, Bridget and Patrick Kane, Erin, Danny, Shawn and Terry O'Brien, and Amy Zonca, Meg Hillman, Patrick and Michael Ahearn, and by eight great- grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty MacGregor of California and Marge MacKenzie of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Howard MacKenzie; brothers-in-law, Jack MacGregor, and Walt Robbins; sister-in-law, Rita Robbins and son-in-law Terry O'Brien. Beryl and Mac enjoyed many years at their camp in Overlook on Sacandaga Lake and she will miss all their friends there. They were also great fans of Skip Parsons Riverboat Jazz Band and all the past and present members. Her family wishes to thank all the staff of Baptist Nursing Home, especially the team on 3 South for the excellent care and affection they gave Beryl. There will be a gravesite service at Evergreen Memorial Park on Friday, March 4th, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend the service and join the family at Robin's home after the service to share memories of Beryl. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 297 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY 12302. Arrangements are by the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Lake.
