Charles Patenaude Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Patenaude Mechanicville - Charles "Chuck" Patenaude passed away on Thursday, June 13, with his loving wife of 62 years Patricia "Patty" Patenaude by his side.
Chuck, born in Mechanicville on August 26, 1938, was the son of the late Wilfrid and Elizabeth Smith Patenaude. He was a member of the class of 1957.
Chuck joined the army becoming a sergeant in Company C of the 506th Infantry. In 1961, he became a distinguished graduate of the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Course at Fort Campbell. Chuck was a proud member of the 101st Airborne and an Army Ranger.
After leaving the army, Chuck worked as a butcher for Price Chopper and as store manager for Pantry Pride before joining his brothers at the family business established by his father. He started Main-Tane Contracting and became an SSPC Protective Coating Specialist. He was also a certified NACE Level 3 Coating Inspector (#1953).
Chuck was a scout leader for the Boy Scouts when his children were young and also a member of the Mechanicville School Board.
Chuck's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, his friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was the life of the party at reunions and enjoyed having friends and family at the house. He loved telling stories, and his nieces and nephews will remember his dramatic version of "The Wide Mouth Frog.' He also took great pride in his yard and spent long hours working in it and mowing on his beloved John Deere tractor.
Chuck is survived by his wife Patty; his children: Charles Patenaude, Jr. (Terri Haire), Cynthia Patenaude (Pete Schmeer), Trisha Schroeder (Todd), Karen Lorf (Wolfgang), and Christopher Patenaude (Mandi); his grandchildren: Samantha Schmeer, Emily Patenaude (Macen), Christopher Jacob Patenaude, Peter Schmeer, and Mason Patenaude; his brother George Patenaude; sister-in-laws Helga (Edward) Patenaude, Beverly (William) Patenaude, Shirley (Richard) Patenaude, JoAnn (Robert) Patenaude; and his many, many nephews and nieces and their families.
Chuck was predeceased by siblings Edward, Kenneth and wife Deni, William, Richard, Robert "Bobby," Norma Vickery and husband Charles "Ed," Patricia Morrison and husband Dick, Elizabeth "Betty" Whalen, James and wife Carol, and Harold "Sonny."
