David Stables Obituary

David G. Stables, 79, formerly of Burnt Hills, died Monday, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on November 23, 1929, he was the son of James G. and Helen Wallace Stables. David was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1947. During the Korean War, Mr. Stables served with the Navy as a senior chief electrician's mate. He was employed with Knolls Atomic Power Lab as a senior quality analyst and manager for 44 years, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member for the Elfun Society and the GE Quarter Century Club. He also served as Past Commander of the American Legion Post #1092 in Niskayuna; a member of St. George's Lodge #6; a member of the Tin Can Sailors Association; and former Commissioner B.S.A. of Saratoga County. Mr. Stables is survived by his wife, Edith A. Benner Stables, whom he married on September 11, 1950. He was predeceased by his sons, Kevin and Kurt Stables. Survivors include his son, Kenneth (Peggy) Stables of Rotterdam; a brother, James Stables of Sandwich, MA; a sister, Helen Benner of Scotia; and three grandchildren, Amy Stables, Melissa (Richard) Von Stein and Tyler David Stables and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 North Ballston Ave., (Rt. 50), Scotia. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
