Devenish Campbell Obituary

Eugenia "Jean" Campbell Devenish Tomhave went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 30, 2021 at the age of 97. Jean was the daughter of the late Cecil and Allye Berry Devenish of Asheville, NC. In the 1950’s, Jean moved to Schenectady, NY to be a Bible Club Missionary to children. She met her husband, the late Lawrence Roy Tomhave at First Presbyterian Church where they married in 1953 until Larry’s death in 1998. While in Schenectady Jean was a homemaker and lovingly served her family, volunteered her time with numerous organizations as well as going on several International mission trips. Jean moved with her son Dave from Schenectady, NY to Dillon, SC in 2015 where she enjoyed the remaining years of her life close to family. Her passion was to let others know how they can have the hope of eternal life through salvation in Jesus Christ. Jean was a fervent prayer warrior for her family and friends. She was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church, Little Rock, SC where she initiated a widows and senior singles group and remained active until the last few days of her life. Jean is survived by her four children , Dave Tomhave of Dillon, SC, Martha Pettinato (Frank) of Simpsonville, SC, Dan Tomhave (Lynda) of Brazil, IN and Elizabeth Alderman (Chris) of Latta, SC. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends that called her "mom". She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Tomhave, brother, David Devenish and sister, Cecile Sauvigne. Memorial Contributions can be made in her memory to: LRBC Faith Promise Missions or Gideons International through LRBC PO Box 158 Little Rock, SC 29567.
