Dorothy Gignac Obituary

Dorothy E. (Candage) Gignac, 88, passed away April 29, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born November 9, 1928 in the town of Schenectady to Everett C. and Avis E. (Varnum) Candage. She was sister to Barbara, Betty Jane, Everette Jr. and step sister to Ralph and Jean Mason. Dorothy is survived by her step brother, Ralph and step sister, Jean; her son, Jay; step sons, Mark and Scott Gignac; 18 nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren. Dorothy belonged to Alpha Iota Sorority since 1949. She was a bookkeeper for Millbrook Bread until they closed. She worked in the office of Washington Ervin School where she retired. She proctored Geds, volunteered for special Olympics, and her beloved church ESUMC. Dorothy started her love for animals at the Candage Pony Farm. She loved helping people, baking, knitting, vacations, and being with family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Esperance United Methodist Church, 175 Main St., Esperance, NY 12066, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m.
