Edward Stella Obituary

Edward G. Stella SchenectadyEdward G. Stella, 85, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, after a long illness. Ed was born on October 20, 1926, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary Stella. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1944 and enlisted in the United States Army, serving with the 1st Command Squadron Air Forces in Japan. Ed started his career with the General Electric Company upon his honorable discharge from the Army. He worked as a glass shop and quartz mechanic at Research and Development Center, retiring in 1987. Ed was an honorable and devoted gentleman. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and volunteered his time and talents every year for the annual feasta. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ann Salamone Stella, and his devoted son, Gregory Stella; his loving sisters-in-law, Rose Stella and Marguerite Morrell; many nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets and then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Ed's memory to the Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Drive, Scotia, NY 12302.
