Emilie Saad Obituary

Emilie Saad Burnt HillsEmilie Saad of Burnt Hills, admired by friends, cherished by family, left a world rich in laughter and love Saturday, February 14, 2015 after a long illness. Her final three months were spent in the warm embrace and loving kindness of the staff at Mary's Haven hospice house in Saratoga Springs, NY. There, family was able to spend precious time with her under their compassionate care. Born April 23, 1924 in Bethlehem, Palestine and baptized there in the Church of the Nativity, she immigrated to the United States in 1948 with her husband, William Saad. They attended college at the University of Nebraska and moved to New York for a job at General Electric in Waterford. She loved cooking, gardening and was known for her prowess in bridge, often in the paper for winning first place and playing it in 3 no trump! She loved her gardens and watching the birds. When the cold weather set in, she was busy baking her famous bread and wonderful Middle Eastern delicacies. Lively in spirit, she was also generous with her time, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Ellis Hospital, and Our Lady of Grace Church. Emilie lived life to the fullest. Anyone who knew her for a moment or a lifetime was blessed. She told adventurous stories and had a truly cutting sense of humor. She was a loving, dedicated wife, and a wonderful and giving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Our Lady Of Grace Church. Her husband, William Saad, a chemical engineer at General Electric, predeceased her in 1992. Survivors include her two daughters, Laila and her husband, Rex, Carmen and her husband, Eric; two sons, Ted and his partner, Edward, Ramzi and his wife, Barbara; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Emilie has donated her remains to the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical College. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to Mary's Haven, 35 New Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, and The Community Hospice of Saratoga.
