Eugene A. Thouin

Eugene A. Thouin, 85, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was born in Schenectady, New York on November 16, 1937, to Joseph Francis and Anita Thouin. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, he proudly served in the US Navy. He was a radioman aboard the USS Wilhoite Destroyer Escort 397.

Gene worked for the US Post Office in Schenectady for 30 years retiring in 1992. He and his night shift coworkers played in a morning golf league together and were regulars at many Albany Firebird football games. He always read the morning paper and was sure to complete the Jumble and Cryptogram puzzles. He never missed an opening day at Jumpin' Jack's or their Fourth of July fireworks. For many years he vacationed with his family in Rye Beach, New Hampshire, taking many long walks on the beach enjoying the ocean breeze.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his sisters Janice Brown and Maryann Thouin. Gene is survived by his children Michael Thouin (Faith), Daniel Thouin (Shannon), and Laurie Armer (Harry), grandchildren Devin, Taylor, Emily, Lily, Nathan, and Ryker, great grandchildren JD and Jackson, sisters Jackie Zeglen (Larry) and Donna Pisani (Vic), and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, March 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9am Wednesday, March 15 at St Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Memorial contributions in memory of Gene may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Glendale Nursing Home for their care and compassion throughout his long struggle with Alzheimer's.
