Henry Palmieri Obituary

Rev. Henry Palmieri, 88, of South St., entered eternal rest Friday, Oct. 30th at Saratoga Center, Ballston Spa. Born in Kingston, March 13, 1927, eldest son of the late Madeline Nusco Capuano and step-father, Serafino Capuano, (only father he ever knew), Henry lived in Mechanicville practically all of his life. After accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, while serving with the US Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII, Henry became a minister of the Gospel and continued for many years until his health prevented him from doing so. Henry was commended by the Officer in Charge of Momote Los Negro, Admiralty Islands, as "Conscientious, capable and entirely reliable". Upon return to Mechanicville, he earned his High School equivalency diploma in 1950. During a 45 year career with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad, Henry won a prize in 1953 for a slogan on Safe Freight Handling by the D & H RR, retiring as Asst. Supervisor of Station Accts in 1987. His religious training and certifications included Evangelical Teacher's Training and a number of courses by Emmaus Bible College, ordained by A.E.C.C., The Quiet Hour Course and Source of Light Missions. Awarded Honorary D.D. degree by American Fellowship Church, Ordained by Church of Gospel Ministry and awarded D.D. degree and Pastor Counselors degree from Church of Gospel Ministry and received credentials of Ministry by Ministry of Salvation. At the time of death, he was in fellowship with the Pittstown United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 91, Mechanicville. Henry had a loved for music and knew probably every hymn ever written. He loved barbershop music as well and sang tenor with the Dave Whitford Joyous Sound Gospel Singers and previously with the Uncle Sam Chorus. Survivors include his dear wife, Ellen, a loving wife, whom he called "Snowflake" (one of a kind), who took care of him faithfully; his children, son, David (Claire) Palmieri of Apalachin, NY, daughters, Darlene (Faber "Russ") Kearney of Elgin, Ohio and Donna (Robert) Lafean of Port Huron, Michigan. Also by brothers, Louis Palmer, Dominick (Mary) Capuano and Carl (Cindi) Capuano, all of Mechanicville; and sisters, Santa Capuano and Madeline (Ed) LaCasse, both of Clifton Park, NY; along with several grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, predeceased by his first wife, Harlene Sanders Palmieri; and sister, Mary Capuano McElroy. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville will be Monday, Nov. 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow after 7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd at noon at the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 45 Old Route 7, Valley Falls, NY 12185 or a charity of one's choice, in respectful memory of Rev. Dear Palmieri Family, Our dear friend Henry is now in the presence of his dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Henry has blessed us for many years with his writings of Biblical wisdom which were printed in the American Evangelical Christian Church worldwide newsletters.

Matthew 13:52 And he (Jesus) said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old."

May our Lord grant you His perfect peace through this time of sorrow.

Dear Ellen and Family,
So very saddened hearing about Henry's passing. He was such a sweet man with a kind heart. He is now singing with our Dad, David Whitford, up at the pearly gates. Thinking of you and your family. May the wonderful memories you have of him comfort you during this very difficult time. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Love and Hugs,
Deb, Judy, Jim and Terri Whitford

So sorry for your loss. A lot of years have passed but you have all been in my thoughts from time to time. Peace and love to you all. Henry was a shoulder for me over the years and my fathers best friend until his passing. Together joined in the singing for the Lord. Amen. Virginia LeClair)and Richard Mason Sr.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times as you celebrate a life well lived, as your beloved R.I.P wait on God to fulfill his promise at John:3:16 and grant the gift or eternal life in paradise to all those asleep in his memory
