Janet D'Ambrosio Obituary
Born on July 16, 1927, in Schenectady, NY she was the daughter of the late Allan and Agnes (Bodenstab) Schill. Janet was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She went on to receive a degree in Accounting from Albany Business College. She was married to Ralph C. D'Ambrosio on July 16, 1949.
In her younger years, Janet worked for the American Locomotive Co. in Schenectady. She later worked for the Galesi Group in Guilderland for many years until her retirement in 1991. While with Galesi, she served as controller, corporate secretary, and was elected to the Board of Directors of Northeastern Industrial Park.
Janet was a member of the Schenectady and Albany Chamber of Commerce. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady and loved spending time with her family at their camp on Sacandaga Lake.
Survivors include her 5 children, Ralph C. (Lori) D'Ambrosio Jr. of Hadley, Joseph A. (Debra) D'Ambrosio of Pattersonville, Charles D. D'Ambrosio of Highland, William R. D'Ambrosio of Schenectady and Jan D. Hintze of Maple Grove, MN; 5 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; 2 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Ralph; 4 siblings: Jean Robinson, Carolyn Loby Baldwin, Allan and William Schill; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Ann D'Ambrosio.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6 until 8pm at Lights Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady with a calling hour from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Schenectady.
