Joanne "Jae" Coager Olds, 42, of Schenectady, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia after a long and courageous battle with cervical cancer. Born and raised in Schenectady, Jae was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Prior to her illness, she held various retail positions throughout the Schenectady area. She had a big heart and was full of life and adventure. She enjoyed country music and liked to sing karaoke. A true animal lover, Jae was never hesitant to take in a stray or nurse an injured critter back to health. She cherished every moment spent with her friends and family, all of whom will miss her dearly. Survivors include her husband, David Olds of Schenectady; parents, Daniel and Joanne Callahan of Schenectady; her six children, Zachary, Brendan, Christopher, Anthony, Amber and Alexis, all of Schenectady; brothers, David Coager III of Schenectady, David Callahan (Rachele) of Colorado Springs, CO; and her sisters, Crystal (Gene) Schmid of Latham, Rhonda (Will Witbeck) Livingston and Sandy Callahan, both of Schenectady. Jae is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her best friend, Nicole Pallotolo who was by her side until the very end. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Joan Nicole Prince for allowing Jae to live out her final days in comfort and peace.
