Joseph Barone Obituary

Dr. Joseph Barone Schenectady - Dr. Joseph A. Barone, 92, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, surrounded by the love of his family.
Joe was born in Buffalo, NY on August 16, 1931, the son of the late Anthony G. and Jennie L. Muscato Barone and spent his formative years in Piermont, NY. After graduating from Union College in 1953, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, he pursued his passion for dentistry at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, earning his degree in 1955. His commitment to serving others led him to enlist in the US Navy, where he served as a dentist in San Diego, providing care to his fellow servicemen. Upon completing his military service, Dr. Barone had dental practices in Blauvelt and Waterford, NY, before establishing his own practice on Nott Street in Schenectady where, for nearly four decades, he provided compassionate dental care to the community. His role as both a husband and a father reflects his values of love, support, and dedication, which undoubtedly served as a guiding light for his loved ones. His legacy as a family man will continue to live on through the love and memories shared by those he held dear.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Tommasina Perretta Barone, after 53 years of a loving and devoted marriage; siblings, Louise Bernritter and Russell Barone; and his dear mother-in-law Bessie Perretta, whose connection went beyond the typical in-law dynamic, reflecting a genuine affection and mutual respect.
He is survived by his devoted children, Michael and his wife, Mary Barone, of Framingham, MA, Anthony and his wife, Deborah Barone, of Alexandria, VA, James and wife, Kathleen Siobhan Barone, of Odenton, MD, Anne Blaise, of Rochester, NY, and Edward and his wife, Patricia Barone, of Saratoga; grandchildren, Amy Kathleen Barone, Rachel Berkheiser, John Barone, Benjamin Barone, Christie Barone, Laura Musser, April Blaise, Amanda Barone, Katelyn Barone, Max Blaise, III and Ryan Barone; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward and his wife Susan Barone; sister-in-law, Mary Martin; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Rosa Road. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
For those who wish to remember Joe in a special way, memorial contributions may be made to the Recreation Department at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, 323 Kings Road, Schenectady, NY.

It was my pleasure to be introduced to Dr Barone in 1975. Dr Baron's son Mike and I had worked together at Mohawk CC.
Being invited to the Barone home for dinner on several occasions was a pure pleasure. Dr Barone was such a gentle man with great love for his family.

Dr. Barone“s wife and my mom were dear friends from nursing school, so we came to know the family personally and professionally. I have 60-year-old fillings still in which is a testament to his skill and professionalism. More importantly, he was one of the kindest people on the planet and cherished his family. I also appreciated how much he loved a good conversation. He kept you on your toes.

Dr. Barone was such a bright light at Kingsway, sharing his positive philosophies about life with all who would listen. I will always cherish the times we spent singing together.

Dr. Barone was our neighbor and lived behind my parents house for 48 years. During my youth, he attended the sporting events of his kids and was very supportive to all participants. He was a very caring man, respected by friends and cherished by his family. Very sorry to the Barone family for your great loss. May he Rest In Peace.

Dr. Barone was a very special friend to the Callan family. Not only was he our dentist throughout our childhoods, he and his family were also our friends. After our father died he made a point to call and visit with our mom. He will be remembered fondly by generations of Callans.
