Joseph Stocks Obituary

On May 6, Joseph H. Stocks III passed away peacefully in his Maryland home. He is survived by his wife, Robin, daughters Sarah and Hannah (Radouane); grandchildren, Zaid and Laila and sister, Sally. Joe was born on December 25, 1944 in Champaign, Illinois. He obtained a Bachelor's in Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master's Degree from University of Michigan. Joe had a long career as a structural engineer. He worked in space exploration, power generation, nuclear energy, boat motors and the defense industry. Joe enjoyed the technical aspects of his job and was a problem solver by nature. Joe married Robin Scholtz Stocks on July 10, 1982. Joe was a supportive father, frequent youth sports coach and spectator, early computer enthusiast and faithful church member. With his family, Joe enjoyed hosting international students, family dinners and summers in the Adirondacks. After moving to Baltimore for an empty nest adventure, Joe enjoyed walks along the harbor, Orioles games and volunteering at Amazing Grace Church. While he faced limitations due to a 2015 stroke, Joe felt blessed to spend his last year at home. A Memorial Service and luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Saint Andrew in Silver Spring, MD.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Baltimore.

So sorry but we never knew about this at GE in Schenectady where Joe spend a period of time. I worked with Joe on a few projects and as an engineer he was impeccable. As a person I shared many laughs with him. I was so sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
