There he served as Eucharistic minister, lector, President of the Parish Council and enjoyed playing bocce with friends from church.Joe often compared himself to one of his favorite New York Yankees, Lou Gehrig because he, like Lou, also believed himself to be "the luckiest man on the face of the earth." He frequently used Lou's quote when speaking of his ten children, their spouses, his twenty grandchildren, his four great grandchildren, his parents and siblings, his in-laws, his many friends and students and especially about his relationship with God and the love of his life, his wife, Janet Helen. Each person, in turn, is so very lucky and blessed to have had him in their lives.Joe was a true humanitarian. He was kind, caring, fun-loving and intelligent. I was a student in Joe Testo's Secondary Education Administration Class at SUNY Albany back in the 80's. I only had him for one class, but never forgot him. He had an almost pastoral manner in his teaching and offered the best advice that I ever heard regarding difficult and impossible situations - just try to make things a little better. So simple and yet so true. My deepest sympathy to his family, but take comfort in knowing that his was a life well lived.

I was blessed to have Dr. Testo as my sixth grade teacher at TPS-18. I believe we were his first assignment after he left the Army. He without a doubt became one of the most significant human beings to influence my life. The finest teacher I ever had. He really cared and tried to help each of his students. An amazing man. Dr.Testo, I know you are with God, Please say a prayer for us.

Respectfully, Jerry Brown
