KENNETH BROWN Obituary

Kenneth C. Brown (Brownie), 67, died at Saratoga Hospital on Monday, July 19, 2010. He was born in Ballston Spa, NY. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Dorothy Barrett Brown. Ken served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a steel worker at General Electric Company, Schenectady, NY, for 34 years and was a member of I.U.E. Local 301 Schenectady. Ken was former building inspector for the Village of Ballston Spa. He was past president of Ballston Spa Pop Warner. Ken was a former member of Ballston Spa Knights of Columbus and Ballston Spa Elks Lodge #2619. He looked forward to parking cars with his son and grandson during the Saratoga County Fair, camping at Alpine Lake, crossword puzzles, fishing, playing scrabble with his wife and was an avid Yankees fan. He was predeceased by daughter, Jewel E. Anna Brown, and a brother, Larry Brown. Survivors include his wife of 43-plus years, Marlene Brown; his sons, Timothy Brown, and his wife, Melanie of Ballston Spa, Michael Brown and his wife, Sue of Burnt Hills; his mother-in-law, Mary Vanyo of Ballston Spa; his sister-in-law, Joan Brown of Ballston Spa; his grandchildren, Joshua, Karra, Stephanie, Gabriel and Jared; his niece, Lisa Fabian; and nephews, Robert Brown and David Brown; his aunt, Dorothy Johnson; several special cousins; his best friends, Ed and Rose Thomas, Walter and Patti Dunham; and extra special Alpine Lake and D-Line friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Mevec Funeral Home. Services will be on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 8 a.m. at Mevec Funeral Home, 224 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Committal service with full military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Merecki, Dr. Card, Dr. DelGiacco, Saratoga Hospital Emergency Room staff and Dr. Liebers for being so caring, along with Emily, Amy, Wendy, Mary Ann, Betsy, Bernie, Barb, Cathy and Drew. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or Community Emergency Corps, Inc., Thompson Street, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or Corinth Rescue Squad, 101 Sherman Avenue, Corinth, NY 12822.
