LELAND E. PAUL Jr.

Leland E. Paul Jr., 84, died Sunday morning, February 28, 2010, at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Manhattan in New York City, he was the son of the late Leland and Mildred (Eckermann) Paul, Sr. Leland was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An Army veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, Leland received the rank of 1st lieutenant in 1952 and was the recipient of both the Silver Star and Purple Heart during WWII. A mechanical engineer with General Electric Company, he retired in 1985 from Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories with 33 years of service. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, Glenville Fish and Game Club, the NRA and the Disabled American Veterans. Leland was predeceased in 2002 by his wife, Priscilla (Jackson) Paul. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Colpoys (late Ronald) of Alplaus, Julie Kilcullen (Joseph) of Rotterdam and Marjorie Applegate (Mark) of Rotterdam; his grandchildren, Megan Kilcullen and Derek and Jason Applegate. Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening March 4, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Interment in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels Program, 2660 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY 12304, or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in his memory.
