Margaret Shirley Staie, 81, of New Castle Road, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness.She was born on June 6, 1937 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late John Albert and Margaret Bleau. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy and received her Bachelor's as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Amsterdam, NY. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late James B. Staie, who died on June 8, 2006. Shirley retired from the Shenendehowa School district in Clifton Park where she had been a school nurse. Earlier, Shirley had been a pediatric/ ICU dept's of Samaritan Hospital in Troy. While raising her children, she was a troop leader for both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Shenendehowa Senior Citizens and had a great love for all of her dogs. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Crescent.She is the devoted mother Michael (Karen Yaffee-Staie) Staie of Lake Worth, FL, Rebecca (Rick Griffin) Staie-Hawley of Charlotte, NC and the late Peter G. Staie; sister of David William "Butch" (Juanita) Bleau of Waterford; grandmother of Keenan, Skyler, Benjamin, Justin, Brittany, Destinee and Giavanni; great-grandmother of Teya, Landen, Raine, Mena, Samorah, Freedom Meadow, Ty and River; also survived by her dear friends and neighbors Lisa and Larry Koniowka of Clifton Park, many loved nieces and nephews and her canine companion "Benny". Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.Interment will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. following the funeral service, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Jim.For online condolences, please visit Gordoncemerickfuneralhome.com
