Marvin Weaver Obituary

Marvin Weaver, 92, of Schenectady, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2015. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Reading, PA and was the son of the late Paul and Martha Keiser Weaver. Marvin graduated from Lehigh University and earned an undergraduate and master's degrees in chemistry. He was employed with Union Carbide Corporation and holds four patents. He joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to Malaysia, where he taught high school chemistry and later served in Fiji and American Samoa. He also taught at Schenectady Community College. Marvin was an active member at Calvary Tabernacle Church and enjoyed snowshoeing, hiking, including the Appalachian Trail, photography and listening to classical music. His sister, Betty Schell of Chapel Hill, NC survives him; and also a niece and nephew, Susanne Schell of Washington and Robert Schell of Chapel Hill. A nephew, Dennis Schell, predeceased him. He leaves behind his best buddy, Frank Mauriello of Schenectady. The family expresses appreciation to the staff at the Eddy PACE program and Calvary Tabernacle Church for their kind and compassionate care. Marvin was beloved by all he knew and was known for his gentle nature and kindness to others. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Tabernacle, 1840 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY 12304 on Wednesday, November 4 at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Tabernacle.

Marvin was a well-liked member of the Niskayuna Senior Center. He was a gentle and kind man, who went out of his way to show his gratitude for friendship on a daily basis. He is missed but will be remembered fondly.
