Matteo 'Matty' Anatriello MechanicvilleMatteo Matty Anatriello, 77, former longtime resident, died suddenly Monday morning, at Saratoga Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born in Mechanicville, October 26, 1934, Matty served a tour of duty in the US Army. A postal employee for 30 years in the Ballston Spa district, Matty retired in 1992. For a number of years, he delivered the Gazette newspaper. A drummer for most of his life, Matty proudly played for the former Fiesta Band and the former Imperials Drum & Bugle Corps, both of Mechanicville. A longtime member of the Red Raider Football Booster Club, he was a team statistician for many years. A Mechanicville Fire Dept. volunteer fireman with the Howland Co. #5 Company, Matty enjoyed his fire department and music friendships. His wife, Eleanor Groat Anatriello, died in 2008. Survivors include his son, John of Ohio; and daughter, Tina (Paul) Vermilyea of Mechanicville; grandchildren, Paul Jr., Nicholas and Stephen Vermilyea and Chloe Anatriello. Also his sister, Carmella Taglione of Mechanicville; and brother, Guy Sonny (Rose) Anatriello of Ravena; also his friend and her daughter, Julie Bishop and Dawn Hagadorn; along with a number of nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lena Ricci Anatriello; and sisters, Antonette SantaBarbara, Mary Fuschino, Catherine Enzogna, Josephine Funaro and Frances LeClaire. A funeral service will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
