Michael Savignano Obituary
Mike or Mick to most, was born May 21, 1950 in Schenectady to the late Michael and Shirley Savignano. Mick spent his childhood and school-aged years in Colonie and Rotterdam. He graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1969, then attending Hudson Valley Community College, where he obtained his drafting degree and worked for General Electric Co. He then joined the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Union. He worked at the Electric Boat in West Milton, NY. and later became a self-employed General Contractor.
Mick enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, fishing, golfing, shooting pool as well as gardening and cooking. He was a life-member of the Rotterdam Elks and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at the Sportsman Paradise, the family camp in the Adirondacks.
He is survived by his brothers Steven (Trisha) Savignano and James (Monica) Savignano. He said his greatest joy in life was being an uncle to Jeanna, Gregg, Stevee Kaye, James "JC", Nick, Matt and his several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mick leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends, who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, May 19th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Madeline Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady.
Following his Mass all are welcome to join his family at the Rotterdam Elks Lodge, 1152 Curry Rd., Schenectady, NY 12306 and continue "A Celebration of Life."
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave. Glenville, NY 12302, in memory of Mick's beloved canine companion, Sam, who passed away in 1987.

So very sorry for your loss. His Cousin Wayne Smith died on April 6th, at age 68, in Rotterdam. It's a hard time for all. Be strong. May he rest in Peace.

To the Savignano family - I wanted to share a memory of Mickey with you. Every year I hosted a golf outing at Briar Creek to honor Jim and raise money for lung cancer. And every year Mickey would show up and be a part of that special day. Although years had gone by since we saw him, he was there with us to remember Jim every year. I thought that was very respectful to our family - it´s what old friends do. So I´d like to remember Mickey now and thank him for his generosity and dedication. He was kind, sweet, and generous to my entire family. I am very sorry to hear of this - too young to leave this earth. My deepest heartfelt sympathies- Lin Lucca

Mick, you were "One of a Kind" my friend. You kept us laughing all the time. Our adventures on golf trips will always be my favorite memories of our time together. We roomed together quite a few times and always had a blast! My sincere condolences to all who mourn your passing. Prayers for healing and try to find comfort in knowing he lived his life well and enjoyed it to the fullest!
