N. Lena Obituary
Lena was born February 22, 1928 in Cobleskill, NY, a daughter of Ford and Laura (Mansheffer) Slater. She graduated from the former Cobleskill High School and later worked at VanDeusen's Dress Shop in Cobleskill before embarking on a long career with the NYS Lottery Commission in Albany where she eventually retired. She married Merwyn "Mac" McMillan on February 26, 1946 and together raised two daughters. Lena enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitch, snowmobiling, camping, gardening and watching for birds in her feeder.
Survivors include: her daughters; Karyn A. Chevalier of Glenville and Gail (Joseph) Papa of Latham, 3 grandchildren; Patty Wickham, Dawn Chiarello, and Christopher Miers, 7 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, her siblings; Donna (Charles) Cave, of Florida, Arlene (Don) Giacomo of Virginia, Beverly (Neil) Stanton of Howes Cave, and Alton Slater of Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, "Mac" on June 20, 2020, her grandson, Thor and her siblings; Dorothea, Sam, Joan, Marion, Eunice, and Phyllis.
A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Thursday, July 25th at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108 Chapel St. Cobleskill where a funeral service will begin at 12Noon with burial following in the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lena to charity of ones' choice. Lena's family would like to publicly thank the Capstone staff, especially "Becky" and the 4th floor staff for their compassion and care for their care of Lena.
