Paul Russo Obituary

Paul Anthony Russo, 50, lifelong resident of Mechanicville, died suddenly on December 18, 2022, leaving the broken hearts of his son, Anthony, and Anthony's sister, Rachel. Born in Troy on September 28, 1972, son of the late Salvadore and Ann Russo, he was a 1991 graduate and proud Red Raider of Mechanicville High School.

Paul enjoyed his years after high school, attending several colleges, although he went to more social activities than actual classes. He worked for GE Power and Gas for the past 15 years as a purchaser on an international team. Paul was truly a kid at heart who had a toy for every season. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, especially in Maine and the Tug Hill. Boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, scooters, buggies…you name it, he had it.

Paul was a man who had many friends, and he treasured his time spent with each group, near and far. A huge Dallas Cowboys fan, he frequented many sporting and off road events. He also went to Costa Rica twice a year on a deep sea fishing trip with dear friends. Paul was easy to like, and he had one of the gentlest hearts around. Paul's heart extended to all he loved, and his dedication to his family was deep and unending.

Paul's life truly changed with the birth of his son, Anthony. He became a man most dedicated to the care and comfort of his son, whom he offered every experience possible. Paul took pride in learning American Sign Language, Anthony's first language. Together, they bonded over their love of anything with an engine. Paul was predeceased by his parents and brother, Stephen. In addition to Anthony, he is survived by Rachel Rando, Anthony's sister, who although not Paul's daughter, he treated her no differently than one. He also leaves behind his siblings Vincent Russo, Patricia (Lonnie) Middleton, Lisa Russo, Christopher (Kellie) Russo, and Karen Russo, as well as several adored nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to write a letter to Anthony and bring it or mail it to the funeral home, sharing memories and messages of love to Anthony, as he endures a seemingly impossible journey without his father by his side. There will be an ASL interpreter at both events for people to communicate with Anthony.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 28, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Italian Fraternal Society, 38 Viall Ave, Mechanicville.
