I knew Phil in Clearwater FL where I was his computer service helper. What a great guy. He and Jim had an office in town and I knew them both. I met Phil when he had a problem with his Alpha Micro computer. I was a dealer for them and did a service call to his home on Island Estates. I repaired his AM 100 in about 15 minutes by a chip replacement and from then on he always got his computers from me. He had a white piano in his home and was a very fine musician. Also he had a great collection of clocks there in a lighted display. Millie was the nicest lady. I was so fortunate to know them.

Phil, I just learned about you by way of crossing paths with your friend, Eiko Kondo. I wish I had the chance to meet you in person. I love people who have a rebellious spirit and sincere curiosity. I think that's what made you a pioneer. I come from Seattle's music scene and appreciate your leadership in the local stereo business. I especially love this line in one of your ads: "Maybe I should feel weird about being compared to a Stereo System, but in our line of work isn't that a compliment?"
Reading about your life, you have reminded me why it's important to be yourself. Thank you! Rest well, you deserve it.

I worked for Phil and Jim Forgey at Hamlin International in the early 1980's, in the very early days of my career in Cable Television. He was an incredible man, and I learned a great deal from him. He was also quite a character, and there were no dull moments when Phil was in the room. Godspeed.

Phil has been my mentor for the past 42 years. I will miss our phone chats. My best to the family during this difficult time.

Phil was very kind to me when I worked for him as the manager of Hamlin CATV. I think of him often.
