Raymond Bishop Obituary
Nick is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Bishop and brother-in-law James Rankin, and survived by his sister, Mary Lou Rankin, sisters in- law Dorothy Bishop and Patricia Ilnicki, his four daughters, Barbara Jean (Tony Ward), Rosemary Josephine, Carol Ann, and Nicole Judith (Ray Graf), 10 grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews.
Nick graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1955 as Senior Class President. He went on to attend Siena College in Loudonville, NY after serving as medical corpsman in the U.S. Army. He had a long career as a salesperson and draftsman for Grand Rapids Cabinet Company, then as plant manager for Weeks Dairy where he is known to have invented the ice cream flavor Almond Joy!
Reserved and unassuming, his compassion, integrity, and great sense on humor drew people to him. Nick was a lifelong fan of Jazz and a whistler extraordinaire. Mostly, he was like the ocean he loved so much; beneath the turbulent crest, he was the steady calm below.
The family wishes to thank Elderwood Village at Colonie for the care and love they showed Nick during his 2.5 year stay at their facility, especially Kelli and Kristina.
The family will host a gathering in the spring to celebrate Jean and Nick. Honoring the couple's wishes, their ashes will be combined and spread together in the ocean they cherished.

Raymond Bishop was "Uncle Nick" to me and my brothers and sisters, the children of Uncle Nick's sister, Mary Lou Rankin. He was one of the most gracious, caring, humorous and loveable persons I've ever known and was beloved by the Rankin family, for all of the reasons so wonderfully presented in his obituary. He and Aunt Jean are greatly missed. While their visits on Earth are over it is so fitting they will be together once again as they are committed to the ocean they cherished.

I am saddened by Nick´s death. He was a kind and compassionate person. May angels greet him and May he know the deep everlasting peace of God.
