Richard Tessitore Obituary
Born in Amsterdam on January 13, 1957, he was the son of the late Frank P. Tessitore and Mary Fitzgibbons Tessitore. Rich was married on June 12, 2003 to Phyllis L. Hamm who passed away from cancer on February 22, 2016. He was predeceased also by his brother Francis P. (Frank) Tessitore as well as his lovely daughter Kristine (Krissy) Marie Tessitore and his 21-year old cat.Smokey. Mooney received his education at St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
He is survived by his son, Donell Berg of Schenectady NY and four grandchildren: Donzailya Berg of Stephens City VA, Qmarion Berg of Albany NY, DeAndre Berg of Atlanta GA, and Qmanni Berg of Albany NY. Also his current partner, Cheryl Liccioli, who has been beside him through his illness, along with his 23-year old orange cat Shelby.
Richard was employed by various manufacturers in Amsterdam and last employed for 10 years at Norampac Corrugated Box Co of Scotia NY until his retirement in 2016. Previously Rich shared ownership of two horses which raced for a few years at Saratoga NY and before that he enjoyed an antique business.
Mooney was a friend to many, well-liked by all and will be greatly missed. He had a good heart and would help anyone in need no matter who it was. He was a very trustworthy and honest guy. He liked most sports but especially football and horse racing, games of chance and dining out with great food.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street in Amsterdam with the Very Rev.O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. A calling period will precede the service from 9:30 to 11:00. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson NY.
Family and friends are invited to join at the American Legion Post 701, 123 West Main Street, Amsterdam, NY for a luncheon after the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers. Memorial gifts in Richard's name may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, or to the Amsterdam Animal Hospital, 191 Wallins Corners Road, both at Amsterdam NY 12010.
