Rita Fariello Obituary

Rita and David Fariello, ages 91 and 95 respectively, passed away two days apart, on November 12th and November 14th, 2021. Together they shared 73 years of marriage and created a beautiful life and family. Rita was born in Albany to her parents, the late Arthur and Venah Oliver and David was born in Amsterdam to his parents, the late Andrew and CoraBell Fariello. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Rita went on to raise 5 children and was an entrepreneur of sorts- selling a Dutch made clothing line, working in real estate, and breeding poodles. Rita also worked for a local credit union for many years. She always kept busy and excelled at loving and taking care of her family. David graduated from Draper High School and worked for many years at General Electric as a machinist in the steam turbine division and travelled out west to supervise projects. He was even offered positions teaching overseas for General Electric. A sharp minded person, David had a photographic memory. He played many instruments by ear, including the violin, organ, saxophone and harmonica. There was nothing David couldn't build or fix and he even fabricated his own tools. Before purchasing their home of 55 years, Rita and David bought and flipped houses. Rita and David were a picture of devotion, the dream team- both sharing roles in keeping their home running, even up until their last time there. Rita loved cooking for her husband and family and made it her priority no matter what, while David took great pride in maintaining the lawn and taking care of household maintenance. After David's retirement, Rita and David could be found travelling the country in their RV, making friends wherever they went and David with a hard hat on, getting tours from newly met project managers on restricted jobs sites. They enjoyed dabbling in the stock market together on their laptop and spending time with their children, grandchildren, greats and great-great grandchildren, which they loved doing above all else. Rita and David leave behind their loving daughters, JoAnn Ciccone, Corinne Ricciardi (James), Andrea Martin and Ardine Fariello; grandchildren, Andrea Fariello, Danielle Schrom, Jennifer Ciccone, John Ciccone, April Talbot, Kristin Ricciardi, Staci Ann Ricciardi, David Martin, Brian Martin, Steve Martin, Adam Samuels and Harold Samuels; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. David is also survived by one sister, Corinne Rector Ferrara and Rita is survived by her sister, Lois Prian. They were predeceased by one son, David Fariello; two grandsons, Philip Stevens and Paul Samuels as well as Rita's sister, Marcelle Danton. A mass of Christian burial, in which relatives and friends are invited, will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg Street in Rotterdam. Rita and David will be laid to rest together at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
