Robert C. Munn BroadalbinRobert C. Munn, 67, of Canton Meadow Fairport, NY and formerly of Broadalbin, NY, died Tuesday morning, July 2, 2014 at University of Rochester Medical Center Strong Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born in Herkimer on October 10, 1946, a son of Donald A. and Jean Dorothy Fitch Munn and was a 1964 graduate of West Canada Valley High School. Bob received a B.S. in 1968 from Ithaca College and later earned a M.S. in 1980 from SUNY Albany. He resided in Broadalbin for 25 years before moving to Perth in 1993. In 2012, he moved to Fairport to be near his health care team. Mr. Munn was employed at the Broadalbin-Perth Central School for 38 years as a teacher, coach (varsity football, baseball, and JV basketball),athletic director, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent, retiring in 2006. The Broadalbin-Perth Robert C. Munn Gymnasium was dedicated to him at that time. Bob's love for the district was immense and his true passion was working with and helping to develop young people. Mr. Munn was a member of the Kennyetto Fire Company for 18 years, member and Past President of the Broadalbin Rotary, member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Board of Directors, member of the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Historical Society, and a former director of the Broadalbin Youth Commission. In addition, Bob was President of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, President of Section Two Athletic Association, a 14-year member of the Section Two Executive Committee, a member of the NYS Council of Superintendents, a member of the Utica National School Advisory Board, and a member of the Tri County Administrators Association. He attended St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin, NY for 43 years and was most recently a parishioner at St. John of Rochester in Fairport, NY. He enjoyed serving his community and volunteering, most recently with the University of Rochester's Friends of Strong organization supporting the organ transplant program, and volunteering at the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Program and the Rochester/Finger Lakes Eye & Tissue Bank. Bob enjoyed traveling, golf with friends, attending sporting events and rooting on his favorite teams: the NY Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and B-P Patriots. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, William D. Munn. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Judith A. Hart Munn; a daughter, Kristen (Donald) Seelow of Johnstown, NY; two sons, Donald (Pamela) Munn of Fairport, NY, and Timothy (Christine) Munn of Amsterdam, NY; his mother, Dorothy Munn of Newport, NY; a sister, Glenna (Michael) Pryor of Newport, NY; four grandchildren, Zachary and Kaela Seelow, and Robert (Bobby) and Carson Munn; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 7 North Street Broadalbin with the Rev. Thomas Morrette. Burial will be in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 Johnstown.
