Just hearing Coach Steenburgh's name mentioned brings back memories of the greatest times of my life. Above all else I will remember him as a great and caring teacher, mentor, and coach. My sincerest condolences to the entire family and please know that at least one person learned from the lessons he taught and has been a much better person because of them. My prayers for you.

To Mrs. Steenburgh, Sandy, Cindy, Lynn, and your families:

Hard to express my sadness for your loss. Bob Steenburgh -- husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend -- was one of the finest men I've ever had the privilege to know. And you were all part of my second family, which are times we should always cherish. No doubt, he and Bud were surely an odd couple, but together with Artie, Jake, Johnny Ho and the others, they changed the lives of so many young men and women who roamed the halls at GCHS. For that you can all be so proud. I'll always remember his infectious smile and keen sense of humor, but most of all I'll remember his gentle demeanor. He will be missed, and you are all in our prayers.

With warmest regards,

Chris Kenyon

Cindy,
I was so sad to hear of your dad's passing. To me he will always be 'Coach' Steenburgh. An important figure in my development as a young man at Guilderland, he embodied the values of hard work, sacrifice, and integrity. He knew how to motivate people by helping them see their full potential, as he was always so good at seeing it himself. Mediocrity was not a state he tolerated well. He will be missed for sure, though much of him will live on in the many lives he has influenced over the years as a coach, teacher, father and community member. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was one of his students, he was such an incredible teacher. I often tell my kids stories of him. He always tried to have a tough exterior but we all knew deep down he was a big softy.
