Sharon Marie Mickan

1948 - 2023

Sharon Marie Mickan passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 surrounded by family. She was 75 years old. Born on May 3, 1948 to Joseph Begin and Patricia Thompson Begin. She was the oldest of two children. After graduation Sharon worked as a Bank Teller and then as an OSHA Specialist for local toy companies. She later went back to college and obtained her Medical Assistant degree and ended her career working as a doctor's assistant. Sharon met the love of her life, Richard Charles Mickan in 1966. They married on April 27, 1968 and spent the next 55 years building a home and a family that included three children and fifteen grand and great grandchildren. Sharon loved spending time with all her grandchildren and soon became "Mimi" to them as well as all their friends.

Sharon is survived by her husband Richard, her children Patricia Sowle, David Mickan (Dan) and Jennifer Wells, her grandchildren Richard Sowle (Arisha), Kathryn Gilboy (Jeremy), Courtney Sowle and Michael Sowle, her great grandchildren Gavin, Connor, William, Paul, Eden, Alexander, Autumn, Sakarah, Jerdyn, Alexis, and Nevaeh, her brother-in-law Henry Mickan (Shirley), numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she held dear in her heart and her beloved dog Brandy.

Visiting will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Inc., 2034 West Street, Galway. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the Saratoga Hospital for the "above and beyond" care they provided Sharon and her family.
