Sheila Bussell Obituary

Sheila (Marayno) Bussell Schenectady On Friday, July 25, 2014, the world lost one of the sweetest, gentlest and prettiest human beings. Sheila (Marayno) Bussell was born on October 26, 1934 in Irvington, NJ to the late Irving and Hyacinth Marayno. She married her beloved husband, Harvery Bussell, in 1954 and was a proud graduate of Newark State Teachers College as well as a lifetime member of Hadassah. Sheila resided in New Jersey until 1965, which is when she moved to her permanent home in Glenville. While living upstate, she received her master's degree in reading from SUNY Albany. Sheila's working career began as a second grade teacher in Union, New Jersey. After taking time out to raise the children, Sheila worked as a substitute teacher at Shenendahowa, before working for many years as a training specialist for Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie B.O.C.E.S. She retired in 1997. Sheila was an extremely active person who loved to travel with Harvey all over the world, especially to places like Italy, Eastern Europe, Russia and China. While she wasn't abroad, you could find her doing anything from gardening and landscaping, to playing bridge, mahjong or tennis. Sheila also attended cooking and baking classes at SCCC and loved cooking for her family. In addition to her husband, her loving presence will be missed by her survivors which include her daughter, Conni (Charles) Birri of Westerville, Ohio; her sons, Mitchell (Iliana) Bussell of New Haven, Connecticut and Stuart (Mirle) Bussell of Carlsbad, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha and Tony Birri, Jacob and Zachary Bussell and Dalia and Noah Bussell. She was predeceased by her sister, Elsie Selman. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 27 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville at 11 a.m. with Rabbi Eleanor B. Pearlman. Interment will follow in Congregation Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 2045 Watt St., Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends may call prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Sheila may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205. Online condolences may be made at www.glenvillefuneralhome.com.
