Thomas E. DeLorenzo

Thomas E. DeLorenzo, Esq., 82, of Rotterdam, died Monday, Columbus Day, October 8, 2018 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Thomas was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Dominick and Theresa DeLorenzo, and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Siena College in 1957 and his law degree from Albany Law School in 1959. Later that year, Tom was admitted to the New York Bar, the U.S. District Court Northern District of NY and the U.S. Courts of Appeals 2nd Circuit. Tom worked as an attorney for 60 yrs and was the managing partner with DeLorenzo, Grasso and Dalmata, LLP. His professional memberships include the Federated Bar Association, the American Bar Association, NYS Bar Association, Schenectady County Bar Association, and past president of the association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association. Tom also helped to found the Capital Region Italian American Bar Association, and was licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Tom cared deeply about his community especially youth programs including the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Club and Rotterdam Little league and girls' softball. Tom was a proud member of the Sons of Italy, Kiwanis International, Knights of Columbus and Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. He also served as past chairman of the Rotterdam Republican Club and was a past president of the Rotterdam Little League. In addition to his parents, Tom was also predeceased by his brother, Tommaso DeLorenzo and his sister, Mary Bianchi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia Rourke DeLorenzo; three children, Thomas D. DeLorenzo of Palm Springs CA, Paul DeLorenzo of Rotterdam and Dana (Michael) Gannon of Rotterdam; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Lorenzo, Nicholas and Alexander. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at the church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.
