VIRGINIA ATTANASIO Obituary

Virginia May "Ginger" Attanasio passed away on December 23, 2009, at Ellis Hospital. Born January 26, 1933 in Schenectady, daughter of the late Daniel and Josie Benincaso. Ginger was a lifelong resident of Schenectady. She was a seamstress in Troy, NY, for many years until retiring and devoting her life to her children and grandchildren and of course her cats. She was predeceased by her husband, Angelo Attanasio; her son, Gregory Attanasio; her sisters, Betty Mooney, Maryjane Montone and Dana Benincaso. Survived by her daughter, Lori Ann Hughes and her husband, Gregory Hughes; grandchildren, Paul (Pam) Diegel, Gregg (Crystal) Diegel, Danielle (Tracy) Battle and Daniel Attanasio; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Gloria (Louis) Mazzone; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a prayer service on Wednesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady, with Rev. Dominic Isopo officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to the time of the service for those who wish to call. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
