William Wadsworth Obituary

William "Bill" E. Wadsworth, 73, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Albany Medical Center.Born in Niskayuna, Bill was the son of the late Robert J. and Flora E. (Dexter) Wadsworth and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of South Colonie High School, Class of 1962.He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1962, until he was Honorably Discharged in 1966. Bill owned and operated, W.E.W. Carpet Binding and Fringe for many years, retiring in 2006. Bill enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball for over 30 years and was involved with the Colonie Little League, Colonie Challenger League and the Babe Ruth Little League. He received the "Volunteer of the Year" award in 2001, an accomplishment he humbly accepted.Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always put his family first and cherished his time spent with them.Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne (Clute) Wadsworth, of Colonie, to whom he was married on March 5, 1967; his daughters, Jennifer Hoffman (David) of Colonie, Michele Wadsworth (Joe Ovitt) of Queensbury; siblings, F. Roberta Plowinske, Leslie Mallia, Carol Ochsner (Ronald), Robert J. Wadsworth (Colleen Svingala); his grandchildren, Sarah Hoffman (Zeb Fortune) and Peter Hoffman. A true friend and fellow Colonie Little league supported. Bill's dedication to the kids that played at Colonie Little league, especially those that played in the Colonie Challenger Program for disabled kids (a program he started in 2004) was exceptional. He touched a lot of kids. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear the sad news of Bill's passing. We enjoyed so many great memories with him on the Baseball field and of course the Chicken Barbecues. His devotion to the Challenger Division was just wonderful, he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
