Betty Becker Obituary

Betty Elaine Becker Memorial services to celebrate the life of Betty Elaine Becker will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn (corner of Main and Anthony), Glen Ellyn. Born Aug. 4, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Rupert and Beth Bingham, she passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004, in the loving company of her children. Betty graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn in 1942. She met her husband, William H. Becker, there, and they married at the age of 18 on Jan. 30, 1943, in Glen Ellyn, during a semester break from the University of Illinois. After their wedding, Bill was shipped out to serve his country during World War II. They remained happily married for 57 years. Betty and Bill were founding members of Faith Congregational Church in Glenn Ellyn Countryside, where they both sang in the choir and Bill served as lay pastor and elder. In their golden years, they lived in Elgin. After Bill's death, Betty relocated to Glen Ellyn and joined First Presbyterian Church in 2003. Betty will be remembered always by her friends and family for her love of music, children and for the extraordinary and enduring love she shared with her husband. She is survived by her children, William Scott (Mary) Becker of Golden, Colo., Victoria Lynn (Chuck) Kinnaman of Roselle, Beth Elaine (David) Ellis of Naperville, Barbara Ann (Fred) Robertson of League City, Texas and Linda Lee (John) Phillabaum of Wheaton; her grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah, Julie, Michael, Paul, Steve, Cheyenne, Carly and Tracy; her sister, Joyce (Steve) Kinzalow of St. Louis; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000. Arrangements were made by DuPage Cremations, Ltd., Wheaton. Cousins, I was sad to see Betty in the obituary. My fondest memories of how excited we were, living on Grandma Myrtle's farm, when your mom and dad would unexpectedly visit. It was always a treat to be around them.

I met Betty in the laundry room of the senior residence where we live.Exchanged info. with her on our lives. My wife & I are married 44 years and have lived here 4 years. She appeared very courageous, but still saddened over the loss of her husband. God rest her soul!

I was saddened to read of Betty's passing. I met her and Bill several years ago when I moved to Willow Lake. Anyone could tell they were devoted to each other. Now they are together again.
