BRIAN KOROTKA Obituary

Brian Lance Korotka, born April 15th, 1956, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2016 at the age of 60. He was at his home in Wauconda, IL, enjoying the beautiful weather in what he liked to call his "man cave." Loving husband of Sharon (nee Kulinski); cherished father to Chad Korotka (Ewelina Korotka), Leslie (Matthew) Hefner and Lisa (fiance Thomas Lincoln) Korotka; outstanding grandfather to little Brian Hunter Korotka; devoted son of Donald Korotka and Barbara (nee Warner), and son-in-law of Lucille Kulinski and the late Lawrence Kulinski; beloved brother of Dennis Korotka, Dawn (Mike) Nigbor, Kathy (Jody) Meetz, Denise (and the late Genaro) Turrubiates, Kenneth (Nancy) Korotka, and Kelly (Nick) McKibben. He was also a supportive brother-in-law to Sharon's sister and five brothers, and a caring uncle to 11 nephews and 19 nieces. Brian lived an extremely happy and fulfilling life, despite any and all challenges thrown his way. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 11 years, with an honorable discharge earning the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, E-7. He married the love of his life, Sharon, on June 18th, 1983 and had the honor of fathering three beautiful children. He was also recently blessed with his first grandson, whom will carry on his name. Brian had a passion for the wild outdoors, with fishing, hunting, and camping being some of his favorite hobbies. Throughout his life, he dedicated his time and efforts to the American Legion and was also a member of the Wauconda Sportsmen's Club. He had strong religious and political beliefs that defined who he was and fueled that fire that was always burning within him. Brian was one of the most courageous, wise, and humble human beings and all of the people in his life feel honored to have known him. He spent his last days amongst family and friends overwhelmed with love and support as he celebrated his 60th birthday. He will be missed by so many friends and family. The visitation will be held from 1-4 pm with a memorial service beginning at 4 pm on Saturday, April 23rd at Kisselburg- Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Brians Fund" (no apostrophe). There will be a collection box available on Saturday or donations can be mailed to either Sharon or the Wauconda Community Bank, Attn: Cynthia Tysland, 495 W Liberty Street, Wauconda, IL 60084. Sharon and Family, I am deeply saddened by Brian's passing. Knowing he is no longer in this world makes it a lesser place. Please know that Brian's influence is far and wide.

Sharon and family, I was very sorry to hear about Brian's passing last night. It was good to talk with you last night. Brian was my friend and we will miss him. It gives me comfort to know he went happy and on his terms. He made the best of his many trials always with his positive outlook on life. I am sorry we couldn't make it but finding out at this late hour prohibited any chance for me to come to Lake Zurich. I will be there in spirit with you all today as will Brian.

Sharon, Chad, Leslie, and Lisa:
The news of Brian passing honestly made me gasp. I will keep the warm memories while you lived in West Bend close to my heart. Sharon, the memories of our PTA President terms do nothing but put a smile on my face. Oh, the stories we made. :)
Even though we now live in different states, please know that if there is ANYTHING you need, do not hesitate to let me know.
Friends forever,
Matt and Jackie
