Clarence A. Phillips a resident of Wauconda for 29 years Clarence A. Phillips, 87, was the beloved husband of the late Patricia; loving father of Konnie (Don) Vallance, Susan (Frank) Fiorello, Michael (Marsha) Phillips, Ben (Jeannie) Mellema, Jerry Mellema and Deborah (Ron) Zinkel; cherished grandfather of Nicholas and the late Benji, Cara, Lisa, Angela, Scott, Tony, John, Meghan, Ryan, Jessica, Jerilynn, Melissa, Isaac and Brian; and proud great-grandfather to 30+. Clarence was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Rockford, Ill., and passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Mesa, Ariz. Clarence was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Battle Stars as an Army veteran of World War II, and was a retired over-the-road truck driver. Memorial visitation will be Friday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084. A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Federated Church of Wauconda, 200 S. Barrington Road, Wauconda, IL 60084, 847-526-8471.
