Cynthia MacArthur Obituary

Cynthia Wirtz MacArthur Mrs. Cynthia Wirtz MacArthur, 75, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2003, at her winter home in Jupiter, Fla. Her family will hold a memorial service for her in the spring. Burial services are private. Cynthia was the eldest child of the late Arthur M. Wirtz, a prominent realtor, banker, and sports promoter who owned and operated the Chicago Stadium and the Chicago Blackhawk Hockey Team. Mrs. MacArthur devoted much of her life to Alcoholics Anonymous and served on the board of Little Hill Alina Lodge in Blairstown, N.J. She was known for her humor, integrity, and loyalty, and always being the one who would rather give than receive. Mrs. MacArthur was also active in local charities and was a lifelong member of the Junior League Society. She spent her summers in Lake Forest, Ill., to be close to her daughter, Virginia (Baker) Jenner, and their children, Tori, Alexa, and Kelcy (David) Vallas; as well as her son, Bruce MacArthur, and his children, Hayes and Scott. Besides her children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her loving brother William W. Wirtz and her dear sister Elizabeth V. Wirtz. She also was the sister of the late Michael Wirtz Jr. Friends may visit www.dailyherald.com/obits to express condolences and sign the guest book.
