David Albert Obituary
David S. Albert, 98, a resident of Brookdale Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully in his home on September 23, 2024. His children and companion, Peg Klug were with him.
Born in Oak Park on January 13, 1926, he graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1943 and the University of Wisconsin in 1949.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1943 to 1946.
He had a notable career as a structural bridge civil engineer, including the last 42 years with Hazelet & Erdal, a Chicago civil engineering firm. His projects included building roads and bridges in the Cameroons and Indonesia.
His parents were Gertrude and Edward Albert of Glen Ellyn, originally from Freeport, Illinois.
His surviving children are Keith Albert, Laurie Nichols, Steve Albert, and Jill Schulz. His eight grandchildren are Y'vonne Feeney, David Nichols, Jeanna Malkemes, Scott and Tim Albert, and Hailey, Hannah, and Grace Schulz. His five great-grandchildren are Tilda and Roger Nichols, Arlo and Augie Malkemes, and Eli Albert.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and mother of his children, Blanche Wiggins Albert; his second wife, May Wilder Albert; and sisters, Marion and Margery Albert.
He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn and a village resident. A memorial service will be held there on Saturday, November 23rd, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Seth Carey officiating. The burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.

Dear Albert family,
I didn't hear about David's passing until yesterday afternoon while I was listening to the weekly eblast from First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. This morning I listened to David's nice obituary There I learned more about his long life.
My father, Randolph, mother, Janet, brother, John and I all knew David and Blanche through belonging to First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn. Brother John and Steve were in the same glenbard West High School class.
I want to extend my sympathy to all of you. May you find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
